2018 ROUSH Mustangs Fitted With Continental’s ExtremeContact Sport Tires

Ft. Mill, S.C.; October 31, 2017 – Continental Tire’s ultra high-performance (UHP) tire, the ExtremeContact Sport, has been chosen as the sole fitment for the 2018 ROUSH Mustangs. The ExtremeContact Sport is a dynamic, UHP street tire built for car enthusiasts and engineered for extreme grip in dry and wet conditions.

“A ROUSH Mustang is the zenith of performance among Mustang enthusiasts,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental Tire. “The hours of testing, engineering and thought that goes into designing a ROUSH Mustang is second-to-none. We’re proud to have engineered a performance tire, like the ExtremeContact Sport, to match up to the performance of the ROUSH Mustangs. It’s an honor to be chosen and we think enthusiasts will enjoy this winning combination.”

ROUSH Mustangs are all-new for 2018, and are available in Stage 1 and Stage 2 packages. While the ROUSH Stage 1 is powered by Ford’s 310-horsepower 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost power plant, the Stage 2 boasts Ford’s 460-horsepower 5.0L V8 engine.

"One of the most critical building blocks in the performance of a vehicle is the tire," says Jack Roush Jr. "It's what connects you to the road, allowing you to accelerate, brake, and turn. The new Continental ExtremeContact Sport tire performs at the highest level possible for dry summer execution, and sets a whole new standard in wet conditions as well."

Each ROUSH Mustang comes standard with race-inspired styling components, suspension, and more, with a long list of optional enhancements. While Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires are an upgrade on Stage 1 Mustangs, they are standard equipment on every Stage 2. When paired with the optional “TrakPak” 3-Way Coilover Suspension System, the ROUSH Stage 2 achieves an astonishing 1.07 lateral g’s on the skid pad.

To provide the most robust UHP tire possible, Continental called upon five championship-winning racecar drivers to help with the development process. Their input, coupled with Continental’s award-winning engineering, produced a top-of-the-line tire that’s gained industry-wide recognition.

The science of Continental’s SportPlus Technology provides precise handling; security on wet, slippery roads; excellent tread life; and a quiet, comfortable ride for the ROUSH Mustang enthusiast. Another marquee feature of the ExtremeContact Sport are Continental’s Tuned Performance Indicators. This award-winning technology has made Continental a number one choice among consumers by giving drivers an extra measure of confidence. The D (Dry) and W (Wet) letters in the tread indicate the tire’s optimal performance levels in dry and wet conditions.

A 700+ horsepower supercharged “Jackhammer” package is expected to join the lineup in Spring of 2018.
