  • Donation fully funded the wish lists of all fitness and wellness classroom projects in Lancaster, York and Mecklenburg counties

Fort Mill, South Carolina, January 31, 2017 — Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (CTA) kicked off the new year by donating more than $17,000 to public schools in Lancaster, York and Mecklenburg counties in need of supplies for classroom projects focused on fitness and wellness, literacy, math and science. Through DonorsChoose.org, an organization that empowers public school teachers from across the country to request much-needed materials and experiences for their students, Continental was able to fully fund all projects in the category of fitness and wellness in all three counties.

Continental’s donation to 24 classroom projects directly helped educate nearly 9,000 students about the importance of fitness, arts and technology in local public schools.

Some of the items donated to the classrooms include soccer balls, basketball hoops, jump ropes, hula hoops, yoga mats, playground equipment, climbing walls, heart rate monitors, iPads, radios, drum sets, books, tables, printer paper, electronic scales, Dash and Dot robotics sets, Electronic Snap Circuit kits and magnets.

“Continental’s generous donation of recess equipment provides a more exciting and fun way for students to stay active during the school day,” said Mr. Tony Forte, Physical Education elementary school teacher from Clinton Elementary School in Lancaster County. “Thank you for helping us use health and wellness to empower our students in all areas of their lives.”
