Fort Mill, SC; October 20, 2016 – Experience the Continental Tire Extreme Experience at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show beginning Tuesday, November 1 through Friday, November 4. Continental Tire moves outside South Hall for the 2016 SEMA show and partners with the BMW Performance Driving School to provide SEMA participants a ride in a BMW fitted with the new, ExtremeContactTM Sport tire.
Coming in February of 2017, Continental Tire’s newest ultra-high performance (UHP) tire, the ExtremeContactTM Sport, was tested to the limits by five championship-winning racecar drivers and satisfies the most demanding driver. The next generation of the ExtremeContactTM DW, is a dynamic, UHP street tire built for car enthusiasts and engineered for extreme grip in dry and wet conditions.
“We took our knowledge from the track to the street in a whole new way with the ExtremeContactTM Sport,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental Tire. “We chose five of the best sports car drivers in the world to help deliver the performance driving enthusiasts demand in a tire. These drivers pushed our tires to the limits to help develop a tire that includes superb dry handling while not sacrificing any of Continental’s award-winning performance in the wet. This summer tire is ideal for sports cars and sport and luxury vehicles and we’re excited to let people see it first-hand at SEMA.”
To help develop a tire that car enthusiasts would love, Continental called upon five of the top drivers in International Motor Sports Association’s (IMSA) top series, the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Three-time IMSA champion and five-time Rolex 24 Hour winner, Andy Lally; back-to-back, and reigning IMSA champion, Joao Barbosa; Continental Tire SportsCar Series champion and two-time World Challenge champion, Lawson Aschenbach; Rolex 24 Hour winner, Ozz Negri; and 24 Hour of Le Mans winner, Rolex 24 Hour winner and WEC champion, Ryan Dalziel, all brought their A-game when it came to the development of the ExtremeContactTM Sport. And SEMA participants can experience it first!
In addition to getting an exclusive peek at the new ExtremeContactTM Sport tire, participants will see one-of-a-kind car builds by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, Petty’s Garage, Roush Performance, Rutledge Wood, and West Coast Customs. All while DJ Shawty Slim mixes the fresh sounds of today with a peppering of old school flavor. It’s an Extreme Experience that you’ll want to post, share, like, and comment on.
