From travel stories, to favorite movies, to his soccer career, we learned a lot when we sat down with Romain Alessandrini. You’ll learn about his adventurous side when he tells us about a spontaneous destination switch in the middle of a vacation, and his favorite movie and television show might just surprise you!

What has been the most memorable moment of your soccer career?

There have been a lot for me. Maybe the best was when I played for the National Championship in France, so that maybe one of the best moments of my life. It was crazy because I started from the bottom and when you arrive at this level, it’s just incredible. I just cried. It was a good feeling.

How do you set goals for yourself?

I like to be focused week after week. You never know what will happen, so I just take it step by step. I realize what I can do at the beginning of the season and sometimes you feel very good or not so good, and sometimes you have a different feeling just before the game. I try to just be myself and just take everything step by step.

How do you keep yourself motivated?

When I am at the training center, I try to be focused and when I come back to my house I try to forget everything and just enjoy my time with my girlfriend and my daughter. I enjoy visiting LA. I don’t want to spend the entire day focused on my soccer so when I get back home I try to have a quiet day and just have time with my family. We explore the city and walk around and that makes me happy.

What television shows do you watch?

To be honest, it’s hard for me to watch television, so I just watch movies with subtitles. I like Blue Diamond and Titanic. My girlfriend loves that movie. In France I liked watching the Voice – I might like that one in America too. I’ll see!

What is your best or worst travel story?
The worst was maybe last year when my girlfriend and I went to Sichon Island, and the weather was terrible so we stayed two days and the weather didn’t change. We had gone there because of the beaches and the perfect weather. But the weather was bad and in the room there was a lot of insects and my girlfriend said “we have to leave”. So then we went to Abu Dhabi. In four hours, we changed the hotel and flights and everything - we changed the entire trip.

The best trip was probably when we went to Dubai – that’s when of the best places I’ve seen.
