Ft. Mill, S.C. – November 30, 2015. The second season of “What’Cha Got”, presented by Continental Tire, came down to Sporting KC’s, Dom Dwyer, and DC United’s, Perry Kitchen. Two of Major League Soccer’s (MLS) best on the pitch. Off the pitch, the two were just as impressive as they battled it out for the rights to take the set of Lamborghini keys off the hands of Chicago Fire goalie, and season one winner, Sean Johnson. After 14 competitors, a dedication to a dog, some Italian opera, and a couple of crushed cones, host, Townsend Bell, announced Kitchen the winner.
"It was an incredible experience to race something with that much power and that exotic,” said Kitchen following his win. “It's probably something I'll never get to do again. Winning the competition is pretty insane, to be honest. I can't really imagine driving that car around for a year, but I'm really looking forward to it and am very excited about it."
Fourteen MLS notables swapped their daily driver for a turn behind the wheel of a Lamborghini. Each participant put their best foot forward to make it through a closed-circuit autocross course. Seven participants from the east, and seven from the west, squared off in a battle similar to the shootout at the O.K. Corral. In the end, it was Dwyer and Kitchen left standing to contend for the chance to win a year-long lease of a 2015 Lamborghini fitted in Continental’s ultra-high performance tire, the ContiSportContactTM 5P with Kitchen taking top honors.
"We had an impressive group of MLS contenders in this season’s What’Cha Got,” said Bell. “I love watching these guys (and gal) get behind the wheel and drive all-out for a chance to win a Lamborghini. And then Perry Kitchen coming in at the end to put his stamp on things. He is such a fierce competitor on and off the pitch. He was quiet, but studied every detail and was super fast on the track. Someday I hope we can put him head to head against last year’s winner, Sean Johnson.”
Kitchen will officially get the keys from Johnson during half-time of the MLS Cup match on December 6, 2015. Tune in to FOX Sports for all the live highlights.
