Tips for the Perfect Soccer Tailgate

Tips for the Perfect Soccer Tailgate

A hallmark of American sports, tailgate parties occur in the parking lots of stadiums and arenas across the country. For Major League Soccer (MLS) fans, tailgating has become a staple at games. With 20 MLS teams vying for the Cup between March and November, there are no shortage of tailgate opportunities. Sprinkle in the Copa America Centenario and 2016 may be one of the most epic tailgate seasons yet for soccer fans across the U.S.

Once your vehicle, dressed in Continental tires, has taken you to the game, what do you do to make sure your tailgate soiree is on point? We have a few suggestions. First, check with the supporters group for your favorite club. Aside from meeting new people and having even more fun at a game, many supporters groups organize tailgate parties prior to each home game. It’s a festive atmosphere and you’re sure to get in the spirit.

If you’re hosting your own tailgate, it’s always good to do a little pre-planning before heading to the game. Make sure to include friends and family members who are attending the game with you by giving them assignments of what to bring and how they can participate. And don’t be afraid to start small. Sometimes a few snacks and a soccer ball is all you need for a little fun before heading into the stadium. Many teams have rules and restrictions when it comes to tailgating so make sure to check with your favorite team before planning your tailgate.

To help with your pre-planning, we created the list below to help make sure you don’t forget anything. We’ve left out food and beverage as that’s up to you. Happy tailgating!
