Ft. Mill, S.C. – July 21, 2016. What happens when 14 Major League Soccer (MLS) players trade their boots for tires and a chance to get behind the wheel of a 2016 Audi R8? The short format feature, “What’Cha Got”, presented by Continental Tire. Hosted by WeatherTech SportsCar Championship driver, Townsend Bell, this show will bring out the competitive edge in some of soccer’s top names. Airing on FOX and FOX Sports 1 as part of the “Soccer Sunday” lineup, this weekly show takes players from the pitch to the track and showcases some hidden talent.
Chicago Fire goalkeeper, Sean Johnson, snatched the keys to a Lamborghini in 2014 and former D.C. United midfielder, Perry Kitchen, took the honors in 2015. But who has the speed, quick reflexes and dedication to claim this year’s title and a brand new Audi R8?
“This year’s batch of players was extremely competitive,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental Tire. “This is our third season and I think some of these guys have been practicing because they definitely put those Continental tires to work. This may be our best season yet!”
“We are excited to partner with Continental Tire to bring MLS fans a third season of What’Cha Got,” said Bell. “We are testing the driving skills of a whole new round of players competing on our most challenging course yet. It should be entertaining as we introduce new track features like a slalom and jump!"
The weekly series features 14 MLS notables swapping their daily driver for a turn behind the wheel of an Audi R8. Each participant puts their best foot forward to make it through a closed-circuit autocross course. Seven participants from the east, and seven from the west, square off in a battle similar to the shootout at the O.K. Corral. In the end, two will be left standing to contend for the chance to win a year-long lease of a 2016 Audi R8 fitted in Continental’s ultra-high performance tire, the ContiSportContactTM 5P.
This season’s roster showcases a mix of MLS favorites including:
Luis Robles – New York Red Bulls
Chance Myers – Sporting KC
Eric Wynalda – FOX
Steven Birnbaum – D.C. United
Ray Gaddis – Philadelphia Union
Brek Shea – Orlando City SC
AJ DeLaGarza – LA Galaxy
Ethan Finlay – Columbus Crew SC
Luke Mulholland – Real Salt Lake
Zach Loyd – FC Dallas
Juan Agudelo – New England Revolution
Fatai Alashe – San Jose Earthquakes
Chris Korb – D.C. United
Andrew Wenger – Houston Dynamo
The first episode kicks off Sunday, July 24 on FOX. “What’Cha Got” will follow the Soccer Sunday game of the week on FOX or FOX Sports 1, featuring a different participant each week with the finale airing in December.
