Q: When did you first discover your passion and talent for photography?
Da.Green.Machine:
“I would say at the age of 10. That was when I bought my first camera. I was taking photos of our family and friends, and documenting moments. I like photography because it’s a language that everyone understands.”

Q: When did you first start to love cars?
Da.Green.Machine:
“At a very young age. As far as I remember, I first started loving RC caterpillar loaders, dump trucks and semi-trailer trucks and building train tracks. From there, I started using the semi-trailer and trains to transport my hot wheels toys.”

Q: When and why did you decide to combine those two passions of photography and cars?
Da.Green.Machine:
“I decided to combine both passions back in 2015 when I had my 2013 M3 LRP edition. I thought I needed a platform where I could display and document my work.” 

Q: What is the history behind @da.green.machine?
Da.Green.Machine:
“I initially had an orange car, and my account was “@da.orange.juice”. However, I always wanted to get that Java Green individual color, so I decided to pull the trigger on a brand new 2017 M4 Competition.  The Java Green color is offered through the BMWM individual program by request. The reason I wanted the Java Green was because I thought it was very unique. There are a few shades of green in the car industry; some are very loud and strong on the eyes while others are more subtle and easy on the eyes. I think the Java Green falls in that sweet spot. The yellow hue or gold flakes (metallic effect) gives it a nice shine under the sun. The drawback of choosing such color is the fact that it's very difficult to photograph. But hey, it's worth it! The M4 competition package makes close to 450 horses and 406 lb-ft torque. It’s tuned differently than the base M4 with revised suspension for better handling.” 

Q: How long have you had the @da.green.machine Instagram account and did you know it was going to become as successful as it has?
Da.Green.Machine:
“Since 2014. When I decided to take photos of my car and post on Instagram, there were a handful of individuals on Instagram who had been taking professional photos of their cars. I remember I was the only BMWM owner with many followers on Instagram in Canada among a few in the world. I didn’t know if it would become successful, but people always ask ‘how do you have so many followers for just a car?’ My answer is always “quality over quantity.” 

Q: What do you feel is the most important element in delivering compelling content for your followers?
Da.Green.Machine:
“The only way to speak to followers from every corner of the world is through my photography. Regardless of your origin, culture, background, education level, age or interest, we all can speak the language of a good photo. I think diversity is important. I mean, you can snap so many angles of a car but then what’s next? I take advantage of our nature here in North America by trying to combine landscape and my car to add personality to my photos and also to create interesting content. I don’t shoot my car in my backyard or garage because it wouldn't be interesting to see. I drive my car, and I chase the sunset around almost every day. My followers deserve to see unique and original content, and I don't take that for granted.”

Q: Why do you choose the ExtremeContact Sport for your BMW?
Da.Green.Machine:
“I have owned high performance cars since I was a teen. I have tried pretty much all major tire brands over the years, but there has always been a trade-off. It is either that the tire is grippy in dry surfaces, or it performs poorly in wet conditions. However, after putting on my ExtremeContact Sport, no tire has made me feel so confident driving in all weather conditions. I never lose confidence in these tires in both dry and wet conditions.

Overall ride quality is a huge improvement from its competitors. The ExtremeContact Sport takes bumps softer than the competitors do without compromising grip. Not to mention that road noise is a night and day difference. I personally value responsive and precise steering, cornering stability and braking distance. The ExtremeContact Sport checks them all. The tire slices through water and grabs pavement in wet conditions. Longevity is another factor of why I love this tire. I think the engineering department at Continental Tire will have a hard time coming up with a better tire than this!”
